Robert De Niro, considered one of the best cinematographic artists of his generation, was honored this Sunday, January 19 with a prize for his achievements during his extensive acting career by his colleagues, and took the opportunity to criticize the president of States United, Donald Trump.
The two-time Academy Award winner and protagonist of the Oscar-nominated mafia film “The Irishman” received the annual tribute of the Actors Guild (SAG) to celebrate a 50-year career in films ranging from dramas such as “The Deer Hunter ”,“ Raging Bull ”and“ The Godfather II ”.RELATED
Upon stepping on stage in the middle of a standing ovation at the Shrine Auditorium, De Niro struck Trump, not to mention his name, at a time when the president faces a political trial in the Senate on charges of abuse of power and obstruction congressional.
"There is the right and there is the wrong and there is common sense, and there is abuse of power, and as a citizen I have as much right as any other person … to express my opinion," said the actor.

“And if I have a stronger voice because of my situation, I will use it every time I see a flagrant abuse of power. And that's all I'll say about that tonight, ”he added.
He then thanked his “comrades in arms” for awarding the honorary prize to the trajectory of the SAG-AFTRA union.
