Actor Robert De Niro described the president of the United States, Donald Trump, as a gangster leader who believes he can do what he wants and who he would like to see in jail.
The actor is one of the public figures who has expressed his rejection of the public policies of the US president on several occasions; the most recent during the Tony Awards ceremony last June, in which he said: "There are no more opportunities for Trump. You have to fuck Trump."
De Niro once again expressed his position before the premiere at the London Film Festival of The Irish, a film in which he plays the mafia killer Frank Sheeran, allegedly responsible for the murder of union leader Jimmy Hoffa, in 1975.RELATED
"We have a real and immediate problem in which we have a gangster president who believes he can do what he wants … the problem is that, if he really gets his way, then we all have a problem," he said in an interview to "The Guardian."

He noted that "the irritation of the people around him who really defend him, these Republicans, is terrible, and we must do something about it."
Asked about the possibility of Trump being jailed for the current political trial investigation, he said, "Oh, I can't wait to see him in jail. I don't want him to die, I want him to go to jail."
The Oscar winner for The Godfather. Part II and Wild Bull also expressed their dislike for the Republican party; "The impudence of the people, who surround him, who are really defending him. These Republicans, it's terrible. We must do something about it."
De Niro also referred to the subject during his participation in the recording of an episode for the program The Graham Norton Show, which aired on October 11.
"Today, we have a strange and twisted president who thinks he is a gangster, who is not even a very good gangster … Gangsters have honor, you shake hands and they have your word and you have theirs and that is all But with this guy, it is not the case, "he said.
