Boston – Russian military agents successfully hacked a Ukrainian company that is at the center of the scandal that led to the political trial against President Donald Trump, said an American cybersecurity company.
Russian agents launched a phishing campaign in November to steal employee access credentials from the Burisma Holdings gas company, according to Area 1 Security, a Silicon Valley company that specializes in email security .
Hunter Biden, son of Democratic presidential candidate and former vice president Joe Biden, worked on the Burisma board of directors.RELATED
In the eight-page report published online by Area 1 it is not clear what the hackers were looking for or what they could have obtained. Company executives did not answer questions sent by email at this time.
The timing of the operation indicates that Russian agents may be looking for material that could be harmful to the Biden.
