WASHINGTON, USA – The US House of Representatives yesterday obtained the first testimony from someone who directly heard the call between US President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymir Zelensky. This is Army Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman.
The military considered – after hearing the call – that Trump was asking for help from a foreign government to investigate a political rival, something that he believes has nothing to do with the national security of the United States.
That call triggered an investigation to open a possible impeachment against Trump.RELATED
The appearance before several committees of the Lower House of Vindman was as celebrated by the Democrats as criticized by Trump, who tried to minimize it in several tweets and insisted that he did not know the witness summoned by the progressives. The president continues to claim “witch hunts” on the part of the Democrats.
Vindman is the main expert in Ukraine of the National Security Council (NSC) of the White House, and is the only one of the witnesses who personally heard the call that congressmen have received so far. The dialogue between the presidents took place on July 25.
GIVING AND GIVING
Democrats use the Latin expression quid pro quo (one thing for another) to refer to that misconduct by the president.
“The call worried me. I did not think it was appropriate to ask a foreign government to investigate a US citizen (former Vice President Joseph Biden), ”Vindman said in his initial statement to congressmen, leaked to the media since Monday night.
Vindman heard the call from the White House crisis room with other officials, and at the end, he transferred his "concerns" about the NSC lawyers.
"I told Ambassador (of the United States in Europe) Gordon Sondland that these statements were not adequate … and that the NSC was not going to get involved in them or press for them," said the military specialist in Ukraine.
