Forrest City, Arkansas – An armed man died after a shooting Monday morning in a Walmart in eastern Arkansas that left two police officers injured, authorities said.
The event occurred in Forrest City, about 45 miles west of Memphis, Mayor Cedric Williams told a news conference.

The authorities have not disclosed the identities of the people involved.
Scott Pope, a Walmart spokesman, said the company is cooperating with the Forrest City Police Department with the investigation, but declined to give more details. Walmart is based in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Tammy Priddy, an employee of the Simmons Eye Center optician inside the Walmart, said she was preparing files when she heard eight bullets and ran to hide under a counter.
“The first two bullets surprised me and there came a co-worker and told me they were shots,” said the 57-year-old woman.
She and her partner ran out of the building while the police shouted at them to get as far away as possible. She came out unharmed.
Arkansas police have initiated an investigation.
