Spain Registered The Largest Increase In Unemployment In The EU During March

Spain noted, along with Cyprus, the largest increase in its unemployment rate in the entire European Union (EU) during March compared to February, as it grew 9 tenths of a percentage point and went from 13.6% to 14.5%, As reported on Thursday by the Community Statistical Office, Eurostat.

March was the month in which the majority of Member States began to introduce containment measures to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, Eurostat recalled.

In the euro area as a whole, the unemployment rate increased by one tenth of a percentage, from 7.3% in February to 7.4% in March, while in the Twenty-seven it also increased by one tenth and went from 6.5% to 6 , 6%.
