Texas: 1 Dead, 9 Injured In Halloween Party Shooting

TEXARKANA, Texas (AP) – A man was killed and nine people were injured in a shooting at a Halloween party in East Texas, according to police.

The shooting occurred Saturday night at an event center in Texarkana, according to a police statement. Police estimated that there were “at least a couple hundred people at the scene.”


The 10 injured people arrived at two hospitals in ambulances, police vehicles or private cars, according to police.

A 20-year-old man was later pronounced dead at one of the hospitals. His name was not made public. The injuries of the other nine wounded did not appear to put their lives at risk, according to police.

The suspect was not detained. The person left the scene in an unidentified vehicle, according to police.

Texarkana is located on the Texas border, about 180 miles (290 kilometers) east of Dallas.
