Former MLB player Phil Niekro has passed away at the age of 81 and baseball is in mourning after losing the best knuckleboarder to come through the major leagues.
Niekro lost the battle against cancer and incidentally his life, this December 27, 2020 at 81 years of age, who is also a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
We’re talking about a pitcher who saw action for 24 MLB seasons, won 318 games and lost 274, had a 3.35 lifetime ERA in 5,404 innings and 3,342 strikeouts.
RELATEDNiekro was a 5-time Golden Glove, 5-time all-star and once an ERA champion. He was 6’1 tall at 180 pounds, played for the Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians and Toronto Blue Jays.
