“More than 2,000 years ago, the Maccabees boldly claimed the Holy Temple in Jerusalem, ensuring a victory for the Jewish people and their faith. They proudly lit the Menorah to rededicate the Second Temple. Although there was only enough olive oil to burn for a day, by divine providence, the flames burned miraculously for eight nights, ”the president wrote.
“As the Jewish community gathers to celebrate this special and sacred time of the year, we remember the message of hope, mercy and love from God. Over eight days, each candle will be lit in the Menorah (sic) will be a signal to the world that freedom and justice always shine more than hate and oppression, ”Trump said in his message, before praising the relationship between Jerusalem and Washington.
“Today, the relationship between the US and Israel, one of our dearest allies and friends, is stronger than ever. We will continue to stand on the side of the Jewish people defending the right given by God to worship freely and openly. ”
“While our Jewish brothers and sisters gather around the Menorah (sic) every night, we pray for a memorable and blessed celebration of the Feast of Lights. May the light of the Menorah (sic) and the union of family and friends fill their hearts with happiness and a reborn sense of faith. Happy Hanukkah! ”He concluded.
In the middle of the month, Trump held the traditional annual presidential ceremony for Chanukah at the White House, in which he signed an executive order to combat anti-Semitism on US university campuses.
