Washington – US Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar condemned the assault on the US Capitol in his formal letter of resignation.
Azar said he will resign at noon on January 20, when President-elect Joe Biden is sworn in.
In his letter to President Donald Trump, dated January 12, Azar wrote that “the attacks on the Capitol were an assault on our democracy and the tradition of peaceful transitions of power that the United States of America brought to the world.”RELATED
“I implore you to continue to unequivocally condemn any form of violence, to demand that no one attempt to disrupt succession activities in Washington or anywhere else, and to continue to unreservedly support the peaceful and orderly transition of power on January 20.” .
The two-page letter recited the achievements of the Trump administration, which “post-election rhetoric and actions … threaten to tarnish.”
