They Are Almost Doctors, But They Cannot Do The Internships, As Happened Last Year

As happened last year, a group of Medicine students from the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Cipolletti made visible a claim for the lack of quotas for taking practical subjects. This morning they demonstrated with posters on the doors of the academic building.

They are demanding a response from the authorities. There are about 35 students who cannot take the practical classes of three practical subjects that are said between the fifth and sixth year of the medical career of the National University of Comahue.

The students also said that there was an arbitrariness to define the people who can do the practices and that just last week they allowed the entire curriculum to follow the theoretical classes virtually. “At first we could not even participate in virtual classes,” they indicated.

Specifically, in the Medicine and Surgery subject, 35 students cannot take classes almost 20 days before the beginning of the second semester cycle. “We are making a claim so that they can give us a solution about what will happen to our practices in this matter,” they said.

“In the chair we are approximately 80 students of which 35 were denied the course in person in a completely arbitrary way since we are all in a position to take the subject. To this day after several meetings with the authorities of the faculty we continue to have as an answer we have to wait, “they added.

Following today’s claim, a meeting with the academic authorities was scheduled for tomorrow. The students wait for a prompt solution since they do not want the resolution to be delayed since it “enormously” affects the period of study.

Last year it was the pandemic that generated the main bottleneck for students to advance in some practices. By the end of the year it became normal. The situation was repeated this year with fewer students but due to the fatality of spaces, access to professional practices remains restricted

“We understand that it is a problem that today we who are directly involved have to face, but the reality is that if we are denied the course or if it is delayed next year, the same thing will happen when more students advance to said course. matter “, explained the young people.
