BOGOTÁ (AP) – The return of Unión Magdalena de Santa Marta to the first division of Colombian soccer after coming back in injury time and defeating local Llaneros de Villavicencio 2-1 gave way to investigations, including one by the government, in the midst of you suspect that the result was supposed to have been rigged.

Magdalena, first division champion in 1968, was relegated three times, the last in 2019.
“What happened in the match for promotion to the first division of Colombian soccer is a national shame. Sport requires transparency, honesty and zero tolerance for any situation that delegitimizes sports ethics, ”Duque wrote on his official Twitter account.
The Colombian Soccer Federation and the Dimayor professional league announced that their courts will try to establish whether there was any irregularity in the outcome of the match.
The Fortaleza club, in a statement, indicated on Sunday: that “tomorrow (Monday) we will proceed to denounce and request before the pertinent national and international sports authorities the review of the painful facts of said confrontation, seeking the integrity of the competition as well as the disciplinary and ethical sanctions that may apply ”.
