Miami – Three people, including a minor who apparently knew each other, were killed Thursday in a shooting at a Royal Palm Beach supermarket, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office in Florida reported.
Officers arrived at the Publix supermarket and found the three people dead from gunshot wounds, including a man, a woman and a child, said Teri Barbera, a spokeswoman for the Palm Beach sheriff’s office, north of Miami.
Barbera did not offer details or identities of the deceased, but assured that “no” it was an aggressor who is “active.”
The officer stressed that it was possible that the three deceased knew each other.
“This is a long process,” Barbera said.
Detectives from the Violent Crimes Division came to the crime scene this afternoon and were interviewing witnesses and looking at camera footage to begin the investigation.
For its part, the Publix supermarket chain said it is cooperating with the authorities investigating the incident while lamenting the deaths.
“Our thoughts are with those who were affected by this tragedy,” he detailed in a statement.
South Florida, especially Miami-Dade County, has faced a wave of indiscriminate shootings against civilians in recent weeks, including for settling scores between gangs.
