Tolima Draws 1-1 With Millonarios And Leads Group B

BOGOTÁ (AP) – Deportes Tolima de Ibagué drew 1-1 with visiting Millonarios de Bogotá and remained in command of Group B on Sunday at the close of the third date of the semifinal round of the Colombian soccer league.

Scorer Fernando Uribe put Millonarios up in the 23rd minute and defender Sergio Mosquera converted Tolima’s goal in the 45th minute.


Another defender, the Costa Rican Juan Pablo Vargas, squandered a penalty against Tolima in injury time. Vargas sent the ball over the horizontal.

Millonarios finished with 10 men for the expulsion of forward Emerson Ronaldo Rodríguez in the 29th minute.

Tolima leads Group B after three rounds with seven points, three more than Millonarios, while América de Cali and Alianza Petrolera de Barrancabermeja share third place with three units.

Alianza revived its option by beating América de Cali 2-1.

Deportivo Cali beat the visitor to Atlético Nacional de Medellín 3-1 and took a big step forward on Saturday to advance to the final.

Deportivo Pereira and Atlético Junior de Barranquilla in the other match of Group A tied 2-2

Cali commands series A with seven points, Junior follows with three, Nacional and Pereira have two.

On Wednesday the fourth date will begin with the Junior-Pereira and Nacional-Cali matches. It will end on Thursday with América-Alianza Petrolera and Millonarios-Tolima.

The winners of each group will play the final in roundtrip games.
