Washington DC Sues Google Over Its Location Practices

WASHINGTON DC — Washington DC Attorney General Karl Racine sued Google on Monday for what he called deceptive location practices that invade users’ privacy. Three other state attorneys general also plan to file lawsuits as part of a bipartisan effort to hold Google accountable on privacy, their office said in a statement. “Google falsely led consumers to believe that changing their account and device settings would allow customers to protect their privacy and control what personal data the company could access,” Racine said. “The truth is that, contrary to Google’s statements, it continues to systematically monitor customers and profit from their data. Google’s false statements are a clear violation of consumer privacy,” he added. Connect with the !
