A few weeks ago, the American magazine specialized in financial matters, Forbes, published the ranking of the wealthiest people in the world, where the presence of several Mexican businessmen stands out.
The richest businessman in Mexico, according to the magazine, is Carlos Slim Helú, who has a fortune of USD 81.2 billion, which put him in 13th place among the wealthiest people in the world. Following him is the owner of Grupo México Germán Larrea Mota Velasco, with a fortune of USD 30.8 billion.RELATED
In third position is the owner of Grupo Salinas and Televisión Azteca, Ricardo Salinas Pliego, with an estimated fortune of USD 12,450 million.
The list also highlights the presence of entrepreneurs from other countries. The United States is the country with the most billionaires in the world, with 735, compared to 724 last year. In second place is China with 607, including Hong Kong and Macau, followed by India with 166, Germany with 134 and Russia with 83.

From the country with the most billionaires in the world, the United States, is former US President Donald Trump, who constantly calls himself a very rich person. However, compared to the fortune of other great billionaires in the world, Trump’s fortune is very small. Worldwide, Trump currently occupies position 1,012, out of 2,578 places that Forbes counted, of people who have a fortune greater than USD 1,000 million.
Trump’s fortune is estimated to be $3 billion. And although that is a lot of money, there are several Mexicans who surpass her, including two women.
The first of them is the richest woman in Mexico, called María Asunción Aramburuzabala Larregui, who ranks fifth among the richest people in Mexico. She is heiress to Grupo Modelo, a company founded by her grandfather, a Spaniard who arrived in Mexico during the first half of the last century, which later passed into the hands of her father, and after his death, Mariasun inherited it, as she is known among her family and friends.
Currently, she has a fortune amounting to USD 6,180 million, which means that she managed to increase it, since in 2021 she had USD 5,630 million. For this reason, it can be concluded that María Asunción Aramburuzabala exceeds Trump’s fortune by USD 3,180 million, that is, more than double what the former US president has.

The other Mexican woman who surpasses Trump’s fortune is Eva Gonda de Rivera, who has a fortune of USD 5.7 billion, which is why she is in position six among the wealthiest people in Mexico. She did not manage to increase or decrease her fortune, because in 2021 she also had the same amount of money.
This means that Gonda exceeds Donald Trump’s fortune by USD 2.7 billion, almost double what the American businessman has.
Gonda de Rivera is the head of one of the business families that has appeared on the Forbes list since 1987: the Garza Sada. The woman is the widow of renowned Mexican businessman Eugenio Garza Lagüera. When the latter died in 2008, his wife and his 4 daughters inherited 50% of the shares of Coca Cola FEMSA, the conglomerate that became the largest public bottler of this American beverage brand.
Garza Lagüera’s heirs also inherited the Oxxo convenience store chain, which revolutionized retail, and 20% of the shares of the Dutch company Heineken. In addition, it has a thousand pharmacies in Mexico, and another thousand distributed between Chile and Colombia. For Forbes, the Oxxo Gas gas station business is the one that shows the greatest potential, despite the fact that there are already many brands in the country, since in the north of Mexico there are more than 400 service stations.
